Michael van der Sloot (born 1991) is a multi-disciplinary Canadian musician from Calgary, Alberta.  As cellist, he has performed with major artists including Lynn Harrell, Andrés and Roberto Díaz, Raphael Wallfisch, Ian Swensen, Mark O’Connor, and Anton Kuerti, and recently performed as soloist with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra as winner of their General Concerto Competition. He has been a regular participant in music festivals at the Banff Centre, Morningside Music Bridge, and National Arts Centre in Ottawa.  As composer, he has recently written works for the Meadows Wind Ensemble, SYZYGY Ensemble, and Calgary Youth Orchestra, among others.  His Cello Concerto in C will be premiered by himself and the Calgary Youth Orchestra in April 2013.  Michael is currently in his final year of undergraduate studies at Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, Texas, where his primary teachers have been cellist Andrés Díaz, and composers Simon A. Sargon and Xi Wang.
